The mission of the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter is to uphold and promote the values of Brotherhood in Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Incorporated by enhancing the quality of life of residents throughout the Northern Virginia community. We are dedicated to the upliftment of humanity through our actions and fraternal membership.
Whereas it seems wise that men of ambition, refinement, and self-respect should seek the society of each other, both for the mutual benefit, and to be an example of the higher type of social relations. Be it resolved that the Beta Alpha Omega Alumni Chapter of Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc., be organized for the purpose of binding those of like qualities into a close, sacred, fraternal bond, that they may know the best of one another, and that each brother in this life may to their full ability aid the other, and by concerted action bring about those things that seem best for all that cannot be accomplished by individual effort.
I really think that the strength of IOTA is the people who are in it. I think that when you compare us to the other organizations, the fact that the other organizations have been around so much longer hinders them, and I really think that the strength of IOTA is that our members can easily get in contact with any other member.
Michael Frisby, National Media Strategist
IOTA was the first Divine Nine BGLO organization that I encountered as an undergrad which had a significant number of Latino members in their brotherhood. Years later as a graduate and professional, I decided to surround myself with men who wanted real change for their communities. I joined IOTA because of their dedication to representing for the entire African Diaspora in all its diversity and hues.
Shaggy Flores, Nuyorican Poet

When Iota Phi Theta was founded, there were already a number of fraternities in existence. As founders we chose to strike out in a bold new direction and this was not easy. It took a special breed of men to go against the grain and to stand tall for what they believed.
Lonnie Spruill Jr., Founder
Standing for something, is always the right choice. Since its founding, Iota Phi Theta has demonstrated a growth rate unmatched by any Black Greek Organization before or since. Time and time again, we have seen that there are men who are seeking an organization with the vibrancy and creativity that are unique to Iota Phi Theta.
Albert Hicks, Founder
I realized that other fraternities on my campus were all talking about the parties and the social events which came along with being in a fraternity. IOTA took an intelligent view of being a fraternity. IOTA is more concentrated on your school work and in allowing individuals to assert their individuality. This made me want to become a brother of IOTA.
